Cold water: Cold water interferes with a number of healthy body functions. It steals your nutrients like good fats, proteins, etc., which get frozen and do not get to enter the bloodstream. Instead, what happens is, while other nutrients that do not get absorbed completely are thrown out of the digestive system, the fats get accumulated in the abdominal region.
- Further, our body’s natural temperature is 37° C. When you drink something very cold like cold water, cold drinks, etc., your body has to spend an extra amount of energy to digest your food and absorb the nutrients from it. Not only that, it also causes sore throat which is the result of mucous building up in the respiratory tract.
- It also increases the occurrence of headaches as cold things (foods, beverages, etc.) lead to cold precipitation of the forehead leading to headaches.
- Consuming cold water during or after meals hardens the oil present in the food (or that’s used to make it) leads to poor digestion as well as fat deposition around the abdominal region.
Warm water: On the other hand, drinking warm water can help prevent constipation. It has a soothing effect on the muscles of the abdomen. It provides relief from menstrual and abdominal cramps and also helps to maintain regular bowel movement.
- Our metabolism gets a jump-start by drinking just one cup of warm water first thing in the morning, as it increases the temperature rate at which we burn our calories. Sweating begins as body temperature increases, thus flushing out the toxins through skin pores.
- Warm water consumption also helps the kidney to flush out toxins and waste material through urine and roughage.
- Toxins are one of the causes for aging. Flushing them out prevents premature aging as this process improves the skin’s elasticity by repairing the skin cells.
- Drinking warm water also helps clear nasal and throat congestions by flushing out the bacteria and dissolving the phlegm. It also helps fight infections thereby facilitating increased immunity.
- Stimulates the breakdown of fat deposits that are present in the body, and increases blood circulation which induces muscle relaxation thus providing relief from pains.
The choice is yours to make. Health is yours to preserve and cherish.
