Healthy food for infants (4-12 months)

Porridge from wheat flour / ground rice / raagi (any one cereal) 
Start with one feed/day of either mashed banana or the porridge, and increase the serving to 3 feeds/day by the turn of the 6th month
6-9Mashed fruits [Banana + mango, (half fruit medium-sized) + chikoo 1]

Cereals-
mixCooked & mashed rice with dal (add green leafy and any vegetables, no spices) 1cup

Cooked & mashed vegetables (cooked) 1/2cup
Chapathi softened in milk 1 cup (half medium-sized in one cup milk)
Fruits 1-3 times a dayAny of the cereals-mix 4-5 times a day
9-12Fruits of all variety – start with half a fruit of medium size (apple, pear, apricot, sweet-lime, orange, strawberries) 
Khichdi 1cup OR
 Idli (1 or 2) OR
Upma 1cup OR
Chapathi 1 small size OR
Curd rice 1 cup OR
Boiled Egg (½) OR 
Minced meat 2 tblspn
Fish (As suitable to the child)
Fruits: 4-5times a day

NOTE: cup size – similar to a tennis ball 

When a new food is introduced, the baby may be allergic (pre-existing or develop) to it or it is unable to digest and, hence, may vomit or pass loose stools. In such cases, don’t feed the baby the same food again.
